Immediately post-merger, I hope you will indulge me in saying something about the newly-enlarged Grayling. A few weeks ago, when I met colleagues from around the world, what struck me was the youthful brilliance of those assembled. The energy, the creativity and the extraordinary skills – fluency in several languages, deep specialised knowledge of all manner of subjects, but above all a desire to engage in what all perceive as the new world developing now from the near-ruination of late 2008. It has inspired me to believe that the mess my Baby Boomer generation are leaving behind – post-Copenhagen it is difficult to avoid that conclusion - just might find some solutions from such a brave and talented generation following on.
