Grayling scoops ‘European Agency of the Year 2011’
Posted 09.12.2011
Global communications consultancy Grayling was last night awarded ‘Agency of the Year’ at the 2011 European Excellence Awards in Amsterdam.
Shortlisted in a total of seven categories, Grayling also won in the Sport & Lifestyle category for Grayling UK’s Cuprinol campaign for AkzoNobel, and in the Digital category for Grayling Sweden’s campaign for ATM operator, Kontanten.
The winning Blog of the Year campaign for Swedish ATM company, Kontanten was run in support of the Swedish Cancer Society’s Pink Ribbon Campaign. Using ATMs as a new medium through which to post blogs, the campaign secured an audience equivalent to one in three of the Swedish population and directly contributed to an increase in ATM withdrawals.
Grayling UK won its second award this year for its work with wood care brand, Cuprinol, for client AkzoNobel. The campaign aimed to raise the importance of wood care within a challenging target audience of 30+ male homeowners. Through creation of a ‘National Shed of the Year’ competition, the campaign found light-hearted ways of engaging the target audience; secured over 300 pieces of coverage and successfully shifted the Cuprinol brand from the specialist press, onto the national media agenda and into the male consciousness.
Grayling was also a finalist in the Technology & Consumer Electronics category for its work with Pricerunner, in the Telecommunication category for Telenor, in the Ecology & Environment category for its work with APCOR - the Portuguese Cork Association and for its work with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in UK and Ireland. In addition Holcim Hungária, a Grayling client, was announced as winner for its Promotion of Sustainable Construction among the next generation, a campaign that was carried out in collaboration with Grayling.
Following the awards, Michael Murphy, Global CEO commented: “I am delighted with our success at the European Excellence Awards this year; credit goes to all Grayling teams and to our fantastic clients, without whom these awards wouldn’t be possible. To win European ‘Agency of the Year’ is the icing on the cake and shows that, less than two years since the new Grayling was created, we are a force to be reckoned with in global communications.”
The fifth annual European Excellence Awards were held on Thursday 8 December at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
