CDP Europe teams up with Grayling Austria

CDP Europe (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) has established itself over the last 20 years as the most widely used reporting system for climate and environmental data. The non-profit organisation will now rely on the expertise of Grayling Austria for the communication of its agenda.

The aim of the joint communication work is to convince even more companies, cities and regions throughout Austria to disclose their environmental data, measure their impact on the environment and motivate them to engage in sustainable business activities. For many investors, CO2 emissions and the commitment to the protection of water resources and forests are increasingly relevant factors in their decisions to invest.

In 2019 alone, 8,400 companies worldwide – from Microsoft to Lego – transparently disclosed their contribution to climate protection via CDP Europe. In Austria, leading companies such as OMV, Verbund, Österreichische Post, Raiffeisen Bank and Voestalpine have already made their environmental impact transparent through CDP. For more than 515 investors with investment assets worth €97 trillion, this data forms an important basis for decision-making when evaluating investments.

“CDP is delighted to begin this partnership with Grayling to increase our media impact in Austria. The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the importance of resilience to future disruptions and shown that a systemic transformation of our economy is needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, which is what science demands. As Europe looks to recover, the emphasis must be on re-building our economy better. Austrian companies, investors, cities and states need to show more leadership, by transparently disclosing their impact and putting in place ambitious strategies to achieve net zero emissions and the sustainable use of water and forests resources. With significant impact in this area, CDP can drive more action at the pace and scale required,” said Steven Tebbe, Managing Director of CDP Europe.

“Grayling Austria will support us as our exclusive partner for all areas of communication. We are confident that this will help demonstrate to the public and private sector in Austria the benefits of a green recovery and the crucial role of disclosure”, said Steven Tebbe.

“In the current corona crisis, climate protection unfortunately receives too little media attention. An independent organisation such as CDP Europe, with its network in the investment scene, can have a great impact by turning important levers to support climate protection – in the economy, with companies, organisations, municipalities and cities. Our experienced Public Sector Team under the leadership of Unit Director Doris Passler is pleased to make a valuable contribution with our pro bono commitment to CDP Europe”, said Sigrid Krupica, CEO of Grayling Austria.

CDP Europe, with its headquarters in Berlin, has run the most widely used reporting system for environmental data over the last twenty years. This specially developed reporting system helps companies, cities, governments and investors to measure, understand and make their impact on climate change, water and forests transparent and to use the data as indicators for sustainable investments.
